My family recently spent a long weekend at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and it was a picture perfect family getaway. Crystal blue waters, white sand, and sun paired with good food, ample entertainment, and beautiful accommodations left us wanting to ditch our day jobs and move to the beach by the end of our stay.

This resort is wonderful for families. Although the resort is massive, tram systems are available to take you where you want to go. Complimentary bike rentals are available too, which gives you another means to travel if you don’t have a car at the ready. We opted to take our car on most of our adventures just to give us a bit of ease with our small travelers, and found no issues with traffic or parking at any spot.

There are a variety of places you can stay at the resort, and my family stayed at the Bayside at Sandestin. I’ll have a full post on this part of the resort on the blog next week, but let me tell you, we loved it! The hotel is about a 5 minute drive away from the beach - you can find a pool and kiddie pool here as well as a restaurant nearby and fitness center and spa. It’s quiet, and the studio room we stayed in fit our family of 4 quite comfortably.

Onto our adventures! We made a few visits to The Village of Baytowne Wharf. This area was a big hit with my kiddos and features fun for a variety of ages. My son spent the most time at the carousel and playground, but for older kids, there is a high adventure course, arcade, and even zip lining available! We also checked out Poppy’s Crazy Lobster for dinner. Although I don’t think I would visit this particular restaurant again, I fell in love with Moo La La Ice Cream and Desserts! What better way to end the day than with a delicious bowl of ice cream!

We of course soaked up all the rays at the beach. I can’t tell you how much I felt at peace here. I have seen quite a few beaches in my day, and by far this is one of the most beautiful beaches I have visited in Florida. It’s perfect for kids too - sandbars make for easy entry and lots of exploring very close to shore. We snagged an umbrella and beach chairs with our resort discount and let the kids play the day away.

We also ventured away from the resort to check out some local spots - Clean Juice was one of our favorite lunch finds. I had the mango and cream smoothie and am still dreaming about it. We took a stroll at the Grand Boulevard Sandestin Town Center. This is a perfect place to catch up on some shopping, grab a bite, or even catch a movie. We ate dinner at Tommy Bahama, and it was absolutely delicious - by far our favorite meal of the trip. The service was top notch, and everything was amazing.

All in all, our trip was one for the books. I would definitely recommend this spot for a family looking to take a few days to relax, soak up the sun, and have lots of fun!
